Halo 3 is the third entry into the Halo franchise. This game is considered the peak of the franchise by many fans and has won many game awards as a result. The game revolves around the Master Chief and Thel Vadam on their adventure to take out the Prophet of Truth and destroy the Ark which is trying to replicate a new ring after the Chief had destroyed the first in Halo: Combat Evolved.
Halo 3 featured many improvements over Halo 2, such as dismountable turrets, two additional grenades for the players arsenal such as the Firebomb and Spikebomb grenades, deployable powerups (such as invincibility, regeneration, radar jammer, flare, and invisibility), and new weapons and vehicles.
Theater mode was a new game mode added to the game, which allows players to play back game sessions for any game mode. This game mode allowed players to be able to explore the game environments with a fly cam style camera or watch the game in first and third person mode. The player can then take screenshots or upload their film to Xbox Live (while the service was available to the game). In multiplayer recordings, the game also allows players to view other players' screens and view information about the player.
Forge mode was another new game mode added to the game. This mode allows players to create and "forge" a new map based on an already existing map. This game mode allows players to move objects in the world or place down new objects. By hacking the game, players can unlock more items that can be placed down in Forge.
Halo 3's DLC mainly consisted of adding multiplayer matchmaking maps. DLC included map packs such as Heroic Map Pack, Legendary Map Pack, Mythic Map Pack, and Mythic Map Pack II, which could be bought with money or gamerscore. These map packs were made permanently free (aside from Heroic Map Pack which went free back on March 25, 2008) on July 7, 2017. The DLC was made free since Xbox One's backwards compatibility list had reached Halo 3 during the 10th anniversary in September of 2017.
The Cold Storage DLC was released July 7, 2008 for free to celebrate Bungie Day.

Pimps At Sea was the special Xbox Live display status that some accounts participating in the closed Halo 3 Alpha would show. The alpha was launched late November 2006 and currently remains lost. Some early builds of Halo 3 that were built after still contain the Pimps At Sea status however.
